Hello Everyone!
So I need to apologize for how short this post will be in comparison to my other ones. Unfortunately, on Wednesday of last week, I received a phone call that my grandfather passed away. I had to quickly pack my bags and get on the first flight to Philadelphia and spend some time at home. Here in southern New Jersey, we are getting hit with a lot of snow tonight going into tomorrow, so I will be returning to school and teaching in full force again on Tuesday!! I will be an hour or two late due to my flight, but I am excited to jump right back into where I left off with my students.
Last week, we were focusing a lot on letter recognition, the alphabet, and spelling our names. The students are getting a lot better at their fine motor skills of holding a pencil and correctly writing letters. They are quite proud of themselves...
Enough about school work though....we had a VERY exciting week :-) First, on Monday we went to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It was so huge, that we honestly felt like we had the museum all to ourselves!! The students enjoyed the Ancient Egyptian exhibits, the jewelry galleries, and a lot of the ancient sculpture from various countries. They really enjoyed walking around the museum and exploring different forms of art. It was a great field trip and we were able to spend a long time in there!!
Aside from the Museum of Fine Arts, we also had a very special visitor come fly all the way from Florida to hang out with my students. His name is CHRIS P BACON!! He is a 1 year old pig that was born without his hind legs. Despite this adversity, Chris P Bacon is a fighter and now travels on wheels with a wheelchair looking device for pigs. He is so adorable and we got to pet him and feed him cheerios (one of his favorite meals). After he left us at Medical Daycare, he got to stay in the Seaport Hotel in Boston. We were really quite jealous.... He bought so many smiles to our students faces and it was a lot of fun getting to hang out with such a great guy (pig) :-). We continued with our pig spirit by reading Pig Themed E-Books on the iPad and the kids really enjoyed it.
Tomorrow, the students will be going on a field trip to an indoor playground arena in Watertown. I felt that it was the perfect place to go on a field trip, especially because it has been so cold and our days filled with snow!! I think the kids will really enjoy it and I am extremely sad I cannot be there.
I look forward to seeing the children's adorable faces again and be back in Boston (my new home). :-) I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend.
Best,
Allison
